In fact, every card is made-to-order through a sophisticated multi-step chemical etching process to etch your cards from sheets of metal. Typically, surface etching is about 10% into the depth of the .5mm stainless steel; however, we are also able to etch deeper into the card – up to 50%!
Upon your request, we can etch 50% down into the metal business card surface for a more dramatic and emphasized etched design. In other words, the etching is halfway into the card instead of etching on the top surface only. Variations of 10% and 50% etching allows for etched areas of your metal card to be accentuated while appearing more subtly in others. The result is a multidimensional business card that stands out among the rest! So you may be asking yourself, what areas of my card can be 50% etched? Due to tolerances involved with the chemical etching process, we recommend 50% etched content that is not too small or detailed. It is also important to keep in mind that 50% etching a large area may weaken the card and its durability can be compromised.
